LABORATORY ASSISTANT
A vacancy has arisen in our UK Laboratory for a Laboratory Assistant. This is an opportunity for someone with an interest in Chemistry. The position will involve assisting in the maintenance of the laboratory, keeping it tidy, well ordered and efficient, by providing support with general good practice housekeeping and associated duties.
A brief list of some duties include:
- Assist Laboratory Technicians in keeping workstations, shelves, cupboards and drawers clean, tidy and free from oil spills and finger marks.
- Take delivery of packages. Assist with the distribution of deliveries to the correct location.
- Regularly empty the packaging waste into the skip.
- Keep the compound and skip area in good order.
- Take empty 25 litre drums to the compound.
- Dispose of samples and move samples from the laboratory to the compound store.
- Keep the floor clean, ie swept and, as required, washed.
- Clean laboratory glassware. Stack and empty the dishwasher.
- In conjunction with the Administration Officer, store laboratory records in the loft..
- Assist with stocktaking.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- have an interest in Chemistry;
- be a careful and methodical worker;
- be able to work to deadlines;
- have neat hand writing and a good standard of written and spoken English;
- have a flexible attitude towards the type of work undertaken.

STORE PERSON / DISPATCHER
A vacancy has arisen in our UK Spectro oil analysis business for a Store Person / Dispatcher. Primary duties will be to maintain adequate stock and prepare and dispatch kit orders in an efficient manner to meet customer requirements (involves manual handling and lifting).
A brief list of some duties include:
- General housekeeping to maintain a clean, tidy and orderly kit area;
- Assemble and pack sample kits ready for dispatch;
- Control the electronic stock control system and maintain specified stock levels;
- Liaise with Accounts and Sales & Marketing as appropriate;
- Liaise with Company drivers and the Administration Officer for assistance with kit preparation;
- Liaise with carriers for delivery and collection of packages;
- Take delivery of goods in. Checking items as described in Company quality assurance procedures;
- Maintain records;
- Driving to make collections and deliveries as required;
- Ad hoc items of general basic maintenance as required;
- Undertake other duties as may reasonably be asked.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Carry out manual handling and lifting;
- Have multi-task experience and be able to work without supervision;
- Have a reasonable standard of Maths and English and legible handwriting;
- Be a careful, methodical and orderly worker;
- Have a flexible attitude and be able to work to tight deadlines;
- Be PC literate and have Microsoft Word and Excel experience;
- Have a full clean driving licence and driving experience.
