Insolubles by Centrifuge

This is a test for the determination of carbon, wear debris and other particulate matter insoluble in heptane, or toluene in lubricating oils.

Soot and other particulate matter may stay in suspension, if a solvent with a coagulant is added and the solution centrifuged at high speed, the suspended material will be extracted and can be assessed.
