This test covers the analysis of wear contaminants from oil wetted surfaces in the oil lubrications systems of turboprop, turbofan or APU engines.This is accomplished by analysing the residue obtained from flushing the oil filter in accordance with the method. The OEM has developed a method to characterise debris from filters to create a protocol to diagnose the health of their equipment. Approximate proportions are allocated to the different materials observed, e.g. Magnetic, Steel, Aluminium, Copper, Carbon, etc. This is achieved using wet chemical analysis which is a destructive test.BACK
