Mechanical Engineering - Reporting Analyst

New Reporting Analyst vacancies have been created within the Reporting Department.  These are for mechanically minded / experienced engineers / technicians.  Working as part of the reporting team you will be required to become familiar with, appreciate, and understand the range of laboratory tests conducted, what the tests are for, and how to interpret the results.  Test results shall be checked, interpreted, and included in reports sent to the client in line with the requirements specified in the Company (Quality Control) Manual.  Training and instruction to carry out these functions will be provided.

A brief list of duties include:

  • Familiarisation with and appreciation of laboratory tests, understanding their purpose and meaning.
  • Checking, analysing, and interpreting test results.
  • Checking the reports prior to their dispatch to the clients.
  • Client liaison.
  • Liaison with other Company departments such as the Laboratory, and Sales & Marketing, regarding client reports and test results.
  • When approved, to assist with the training of staff.

The successful candidate:

  • should have a technical background and substantial experience, preferably in the oil industry and/or in mechanical engineering;
  • must be able to work and communicate effectively with all levels of staff and clients;
  • must be prepared to work outside the standard working hour week to ensure that reporting and laboratory operations are constantly supported;
  • shall be expected to work at a higher performance level than junior staff and have a more flexible attitude towards their duties;
  • must be able to display initiative and see customer reporting as a whole to enable the team to succeed;
  • should require only a minimum of supervision and have problem solving capabilities;
  • must be familiar with and committed to quality assurance.

A degree qualification in a scientific discipline, e.g. Mechanical Engineering is preferable but not essential as the job holder may be appointed on skills and wealth of experience alone.

Normally, the 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day, will be worked as a day shift Monday to Friday.  However, the hours will also be arranged to cover different shifts on a rota basis: Saturday working with a weekday off in lieu (one week in four), and late shift working up to 10:00 pm (one week in four, weekdays only).
