Water by Crackle

Qualitative determination of the amount of water can be determined by other methods such as Karl Fischer. Significant water contamination is undesirable and it should be removed or lowered as soon as possible. Placing oil on a heated surface will quickly and easily determine the presence of trace levels of water in oil. Using a representative sample size and a stable temperature enables an educated estimate as to the amount of contamination.
